Our testers were surprised, but to be totally honest with you, we did not expect too much from the Emerson MW8889SB microwave in the firstplace . I think the price is a little bit deceiving and may put one under the impression that this is just a cheap microwave oven. However, as I just mentioned, it performed very well, including heating up water, cooking raw veggies or just warming up a pre-cooked meal. What stood out was the defrosting. The product lets you enter the weight of the item and will then automatically adjust to the right power-level.
The body of this unit is held in black with some stainless steel accents around the control panel and the door. The touchpad can be cleaned easily with a cloth and water (do not use abrasives!). The Express Cook buttons are a very handy feature and were mentioned during the Emerson MW8889SB microwave oven review as the biggest plus aside from the price. This product also comes with a thirty-second plus button. Overall a very nice little unit, with simple but sufficient functionality.
Of course, this microwave is not for large families. And while it easily fits dishes up to 10 inches, it is certainly not designed for frequently cooking large meals for groups of people. We can recommend the this device to singles, couples and smaller families who need a microwave mainly to defrost frozen items or heating up a meal/beverage. Also, recently the manufacturer dropped the price for this unit significantly, therefore, this is the perfect time to jump in and get this microwave for under $80.
